The Tanner-Culbertson Aural Method of Voice Identification: A Reasonable Alternative to Spectrographic Voice Prints
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The use of voice prints, or spectrographic voice identification, has been around for several decades. This highly developed technology uses complex algorithms to break the speech signal down into its component parts: time, frequency, and energy. The result is a spectrogram, also known as a voice print, that allows visual or computer comparisons between two or more audio samples. Voice prints are used for forensic purposes to permit law enforcement personnel to match a suspect’s voice to audio recordings of unknown subjects. While voice prints provide law enforcement personnel with a valuable investigative tool, there are several problems with them.

Performance Evaluation of Acoustic-Spectrographic Voice Identification Method in Native and Non-Native Speech
The paper deals with acoustic-spectrographic voice identification method in terms of its performance in non-native language speech. Performance evaluation is conducted by comparing the result of the analysis of recordings containing native language speech with recordings that contain foreign language speech. Our research is based on Tajik and Russian speech of Tajik native speakers due to the c...
متن کاملUsing Context-based Statistical Models to Promote the Quality of Voice Conversion Systems
This article aims to examine methods of optimizing GMM-based voice conversion systems performance in which GMM method is introduced as the basic method for improvement of voice conversion systems performance. In the current methods, due to using a single conversion function to convert all speech units and subsequent spectral smoothing arising from statistical averaging, we will observe quality ...
متن کاملSpectrographic voice identification: a forensic survey.
A survey of 2000 voice identification comparisons made by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) examiners was used to determine the observed error rate of the spectrographic voice identification technique under actual forensic conditions. The qualifications of the examiners and the comparison procedures are set forth. The survey revealed that decisions were made in 34.8% of the comparisons with...

Introduction: The art of voice mimicking by computers, has with the computer have been one of the most challenging topics of speech processing in recent years. The system of voice conversion has two sides. In one side, the speaker is the source that his or her voice has been changed for mimicking the target speaker’s voice (which is on the other side). Two methods of p...
متن کاملHandling the “Voiceprint” Issue
What was and is “Voiceprint”/Aural-Spectrographic Identification? Throughout the years, going all the way back to the Second World War, speaker identification by spectrograms has had an influence on Forensic Speaker Identification. The method has been criticized and embraced by different people at different points in time. This paper describes the issues diachronically, using the most important...
